First Time Growing Potatoes

I always had this impression that growing potatoes took a lot of effort, boy was I wrong! Welcome to my first post about growing vegetables and my first attempt at potatoes. I can’t believe how much of a success it was!

Bunnings is where I purchased my seed potatoes.  My partner works there so I got a sweet discount too.  I just selected the first type of potato I could find as I had no idea what any of them were.

Once I got them home, I dug up the beds so the soil was nice and fluffy.  Then I did a HECK of a lot of research about how to grow them properly.  There were heaps of notes about planting them deep and then raising the soil level as they grew. I was about to go on a month long holiday so this was not an option for me.

I planted them out in the raised bed and a container as prescribed and left them to it.   As you can see by the above picture and my below Youtube video, they both turned out to be a huge success!

On a side note, they lasted forever in the cupboard as well! It took them forever to go bad, actually, none of them went bad because we ate them all!

Leave me a comment below if you have any tips for growing potatoes,  I would love to hear them!

I hope you enjoy watching the video I created for my Youtube Channel (took a few months to film) and get a great sense of satisfaction out of watching the harvest like I did.  I can’t wait until potato season begins again and I can give it another go!
