Giant Teacup Planters

Why hello there! Welcome back to another blog post.  Today I am sharing with you my experience creating a giant teacup planter gift for my mother in law. Make sure to check out the video I created for my Youtube Channel

You may or may not have seen these around before but I couldn’t resist trying to re-create it myself.  I always see them in trendy cafes or shop windows. This one was so fun to create that I even ended up getting 2 for myself for my birthday! (I think my fiancé got the hint)

The first decision I had to make was what I was going to plant in it.  My mother in law loves to garden but doesn’t have a lot of time to do it. It had to be  something that was practical and easy to maintain. The first thing that came to my mind was herbs!

Planting it out with herbs was a great idea. Not only are they fuss free, they keep on giving and you can keep them inside.  They make a cute addition to any kitchen or dinner table.

The next decision to make was sow my own seeds or to purchase seedlings from the local hardware store.  I only had 2 weeks to put it together before her birthday so I decided to purchase seedlings.  They were then settled into their new home quickly and shaped to fit the planter.

Choosing the right herbs to plant was also an easy task.  I chose oregano, parsley and thyme.  They are used in every dish so will be picked frequently.  Besides if/when they die she can re-plant the same ones or choose the ones she uses most.

These giant teacup planters are really the gifts that keep on giving.  My fiancé works at our local Bunnings Wharehouse so could purchase them at $11 each. Ballin on a budget am I right?!😎

Have you got a few of these in your garden? If so, let me know what you planted in yours in the comments section below!

Thanks for stopping by! Ill write you next time, on GrowingGreen.
